"The Root of All Evil? is a television documentary, written and presented by Richard Dawkins, in which he argues that the world would be better off without religion. The documentary was first broadcast in January 2006, in the form of two 45 minute episodes (excluding advertisement breaks), on Channel 4 in the UK. Dawkins has said that the title "The Root of All Evil?" was not his preferred choice, but that Channel 4 had insisted on it to create controversy.[1] His sole concession from the producers on the title was the addition of the question mark. Dawkins has stated that the notion of anything being the root of all evil is ridiculous.[2] Dawkins' book The God Delusion, released in September 2006, goes on to examine the topics raised in the documentary in greater detail."

when i look back at the last 10 years of my life it's amazing the different changes that has taken place mentally.

10 years ago i was very much a jw, but struggling as a late teen, trying to balance my youthful desire to have a good time with my desire to please god.

it was a tough battle, sometimes god won, other times he didn't, but when it was all said and done i thought god and i were cool with each other.. then i became a husband and a father, trying to keep up with the extra responsibilities that were upon me.

Nicely written. Thanks for sharing that. As well as I know you and the wifey I didn't know some of those details about your journey.

These words are so true and the sign of wisdom I do believe. In light of new facts, we can change our beliefs and what we hold to be true. It's a sign of an evolving consciousness. Not easy, but necessary to keep from becoming self-deluded again.

Dysfunction and being at home

a colleague recently noted, when the topic of jws came up, that one reason discussed for the higher representation of jws requiring health care for psychosomatic disorder, self harm and mental illness, was that these are the people at home when they call.. it was suggested that the higher level of social dysfunction is not so much generated, but gathered, as it it these people who are at home or who have the type of time it takes to become jws.. thoughts ?.

Interesting thought. I would imagine as well these are people who are desperate for companionship and hope. And the jw's provide the illusion of both.

I work in a bookstore and well, don't mean to be judgmental, but every guy who's come in to buy this book seems like a total sleezebag, guys I wouldn't give a second glance to, no matter how many tricks they learned from said "bible".

Has anyone managed to get the new Nintendo Wii game system? My boyfriend and I have been trying for weeks. They're in high demand with low supply. The stores here get a few every week or so but it's all timing. You have to be there at the moment they arrive or you don't get one. The other night people were lined up outside the Toys'r'us for 15 hours just to get one. Only 12 people did. The others were greatly disappointed.

What's the situation like in your city?
